What Mattress Is Best For Me?

Lets talk mattresses! What one is best for me?

What mattress is best for me?

A good nights sleep is so important.

In fact, it is as important as eating healthy and exercising. And we all know that when we’ve had a good nights sleep we are usually happier and have more energy. I think that’s our bodies way of thanking us for some solid Z’s!

Good sleep can improve concentration and productivity and also improves your immune function.  I’m all for that!

Basically – GET SOME GOOD SLEEP!

Of course, there are conditions that do unfortunately prevent a good nights sleep but are you doing your bit to make sure you have the best mattress for you?

There are many types of mattresses and here is a helpful guide to making sure you get the right one for you.

The two main types you will find are ‘pocket sprung’ and ‘open coil’.   Saying this, we have almost totally switched to pocket sprung mattress now as these are by far the better option and are available in a range of different qualities.

POCKET SPRUNG
Pocket sprung mattresses have springs that are sewn into individual fabric pockets which offer a greater level of independence and support.

These mattresses come with a pocket spring count which are always based on the number of springs in a king size (150cm x 200cm) mattress.

For example, when a mattress is described as having a 1000 spring count, it will have proportionally less if it is not a king size, and therefore, proportionally more if it is a super king size.

Our most popular basic mattress is the 1000 spring count. This is great for general use and also for guest rooms.

The main difference in mattress qualities, regardless of the spring counts, is what the mattress is upholstered with (the bit wrapped around the springs). This makes a huge difference in price and quality.

Pocket sprung mattresses are also available in soft, medium or firm tensions.  Are you a Princess and the Pea and can’t sleep on a soft mattress?

The tension you need is often down to the personal preference of each individual.

As a guide, if you are between 9-16 stone you would have a medium tension mattress. Above this weight you would ideally have a firm tension and below this weight you would ideally need a soft tension.
